Bohemia Interactive has pulled back the curtain on DayZ Badlands Dev Blog Week 79, introducing game-changing environmental tech alongside a classic firearm and one of our favourites, the Lee Enfield!
The headline feature is a brand-new dynamic dust particle system designed for Nasdara. Vehicles, including motorbikes, will kick up realistic dust trails based on their weight and speed, while foot traffic inside buildings can actually shake dust loose from the ceilings below. We think this completely transforms interior and exterior tracking, as moving through structures or crossing open sands can instantly give away your position to watching survivors.
On top of the environmental overhaul, the devs showcased the return of the Lee Enfield rifle. Based on the classic No.1 Mk III* pattern, this version is chambered in 7.62x54, slotting right into the existing pool of rifles whilst delivering hard-hitting bolt-action firepower.
Check out this showcase video for an in depth look at how the Lee-Enfield will impact tactical gameplay in Nasdara.
This month the DayZ community lost a giant creator and modder, whose work shaped the way so many of us play. RedFalcon's helicopter mods have been part of modded servers for what feels like forever, becoming one of those staples you just expect to see when you spawn in as a freshie. He's also responsible for RedFalcon Watercraft, QoL mods and additional custom buildings.
What made him special wasn’t just the quality of his work, it was the heart behind it. He poured his spare time into these projects to make the game better for everyone. Always kind, always helpful, always pushing things forward.
His absence leaves a huge hole in the community, yet his creations will keep flying across our skies, reminding us of the passion he shared with all of us.
Rest in peace on your final flight, RedFalcon.
If you are a server owner, a memorial stone has been created should you wish to add this to your server.

Each month we want to celebrate the hard work this community puts in to keep DayZ feeling fresh and new 13 years on! Below are some of our favourites from the last month.
Wobo’s back at it with another banger, breaking down the Badlands update in that classic no nonsense style every DayZ player swears by. He tears through the new sandstorms that turn the map into a swirling nightmare, forcing you to navigate blind while clutching your gear like it’s wipe day. Then he gets into water trucks and how they’ll change long haul runs, plus the fresh NBC packs that make surviving toxic zones feel like a legitimate high tier challenge.
The bit that had me locked in was his look at infected attacks and how they’re getting nastier, making even a quiet town feel sketchy. @Wobo’s videos are basically a staple diet at this point, always sharp, always on point, always worth watching.
We have been keeping a close eye on the early development of Valsk, a promising new project from Redhunter. Even in its early stages, we had a great time testing the terrain and getting a taste of what the map has to offer.
While the servers are currently offline as development continues, Redhunter has promised that it will be back up soon. We think this project has massive potential and we cannot wait to dive back in once the next test goes live.
Keep an eye on the Discord for exclusive sneak peaks and updates!
@Rylab’s new video is a giant rollercoaster, the kind of run where you either feel like a genius or a complete coastal scrub. He starts off thinking it’ll be a chilled first try, then everything goes sideways so fast you can almost hear the gear fear kicking in. Instead of binning the run, he adapts, digs in and fights his way toward his goal of becoming the deadliest solo on the server and getting his hands on the SCR‑17.
Every fight is stacked against him, every ambush feels like the end, yet he keeps clawing back control. By the time he finally prevails, you realise the whole thing was unscripted, organic and exactly why his videos hit so hard.
@Syl’s new video is all about that dream every DayZ vet secretly has, finding a spot so tucked away you feel like you’ve slipped off the edge of the map. He and his mates stumble across a location buried far from civilisation, the kind of place you only find after hours of wandering through dead woods and sketchy valleys.
From there it becomes a great base building saga, hauling supplies, shaping their new home and roaming the wasteland like a crew with nothing to lose. Along the way they get dragged into intense scraps, weird encounters and those memorable moments you only get when a run goes completely organic. It’s a cracking watch.
Did you spot this?! A brand new teaser for the Azalea 0.4 "Signal" update dropped on YouTube, giving us an exciting look at what is coming to the volcanic island.
Creator OlipollyZ's latest update is packed with ambitious features, including hang gliders and dynamic volcano events that are sure to shake up rotations. These additions will bring an incredible dynamic to exploration and PvP across the terrain. For what was already a 10/10 map, we're very excited for this!
The playtest launched on 29/08/26, so keep an eye on the Discord for exclusive sneak peeks and updates!
@CallMeAlex’s new video digs into the confirmation of DayZ 2 running on the Enfusion engine and it’s exactly the kind of deep dive the community has been waiting for. He lays out what this shift could mean, from smoother performance and stronger netcode to gunplay that finally feels as sharp as the game deserves.
The idea of persistent servers and real cross platform potential adds a whole new layer to the conversation, especially when you realise how much freedom Enfusion could give modders. With ARMA 4’s tech behind it, DayZ 2 suddenly feels like it has room to grow in ways the original never could. It’s an exciting breakdown delivered with that trademark Alex clarity.
@RECEDINGMAN is finally back in DayZ after nearly a year away and his new video hits with that raw honesty only long time survivors carry.
He talks about pouring thousands of hours into the game, loving it, then slowly drifting as it became something different from what first hooked him. That break clearly mattered because now he’s chasing a fresh goal, pushing for 10,000 subs and trying to answer one simple question, could he fall in love with DayZ again.
Watching him wander back into the wasteland feels strangely emotional, like seeing an old mate return to a place that shaped him. It’s reflective, hopeful and a reminder of how deep this game gets under your skin.
@CHUCKA’s latest adventure delivers that perfect mix of curiosity and chaos as he finally stumbles across sasquatch on DayZ for the very first time. You can feel the excitement bursting out of him the moment he realises what he’s found, that wide eyed buzz every survivor gets when the game throws something unexpected their way.
Recorded on the PNW 2.0 by Dego server, the whole encounter feels wild, atmospheric and completely fitting for a map built around mystery. It’s short, punchy and packed with that genuine reaction you can’t fake, the kind of moment that reminds you why DayZ still surprises even the most seasoned players.
DayzUnderground (DUG) remains one of the most iconic, long-standing communities in all of DayZ and their latest update proves why they continue to lead the way in organic hardcore survival.
Originally pitched through their whitelist community suggestions, DUG has officially introduced a complete rework of the classic Kuru system. Moving far beyond the vanilla brain disease, Kuru now escalates in dangerous stages based on how much human flesh you consume. While there is still no cure, crafty cannibals can temporarily suppress shakes and laughter using medications, smoking cigarettes, or feeding the addiction with more flesh.
Even wilder, players can now harvest meat from live victims with the right tools and steak yields now scale based on shot placement and how long the target survived!
This adds an incredibly tasty depth to the roleplay loop.
If you are looking for quick bursts of pure DayZ carnage, our community shorts have absolutely delivered this month.
Freshspawns blowing up again with more than seven million views on this short and it perfectly captures the brutal charm of DayZ. One moment you’re laughing at the madness, the next you’re wincing as the game reminds you how unforgiving it can be. It’s a tiny slice of chaos that shows exactly why DayZ hooks people so hard, ruthless when it wants to be yet somehow still ridiculously fun.
Ar‑K’s new short is pure DayZ luck at its finest. He stumbles across a car, gives it a quick peek and suddenly realises it’s stacked to the roof with loot. You can see the disbelief hit him in real time, that mix of excitement and panic when you know one wrong move could cost you everything. It’s the kind of find every freshie dreams about and Ar‑K plays it perfectly, buzzing with shock as he tries to process just how lucky he’s been. he probably still doesnt believe it, things like this dont happen everyday.
Mav DayZ has dropped a short that every player should take a moment to watch, whether you’re a freshie or a long standing veteran who thinks they’ve seen it all. It’s a rapid hit of practical advice delivered with that calm confidence, covering the little habits that keep you alive longer than your mates. Simple stuff, smart stuff and the kind of reminders that make you nod because you know he’s right.
We loved this Video so much in our Video of the Week section that we had to feature it here too. @IamIrish’s new movie style adventure feels like someone cranked DayZ up to eleven and told him to run straight at the chaos. Joined by Ros Jerky and Dale, the trio sets out with one ridiculous goal, to take over the most overpowered base location on the map.
The cinematics and narration give it that authentic film vibe, but every scrap of gameplay is raw, unscripted and straight from the server, which makes every close call hit harder. Recorded on AfterLight 5 Man, the run swings between tense scouting, brutal fights and those moments where you realise they might actually pull it off. It’s slick, dramatic and exactly the kind of DayZ madness we live for.
No surprise it ran out winner of Video of the Week on Friendly DayZ Podcast episode 193, because it’s more than a base building movie length video.
Some say your characters fit is as important as their body armour. Well @Asmondian has been releasing fresh previews of their newest clothing collection and the level of detail is top-tier.
The new lineup covers an impressive range of survivor styles, stretching all the way from rugged, weathered survival gear built for the harsh elements to full-on motorbike club fits ready for the open road.
Asmondian continues to set the bar for visual design in the scene, bringing authentic style and atmosphere to character customization. We think these sets will look incredible in-game.
@Survivor47 is kicking off a brand new DayZ series and it already feels like the start of something properly epic. He’s got that knack for turning even a simple freshie spawn into a full blown adventure, mixing chaos, close calls and those weird little moments that stick with you long after the run ends.
This new series leans into that energy, showing his journey as it unfolds without scripts or staged nonsense, just raw DayZ storytelling from someone who knows how to make the game shine. If his past videos are anything to go by, these episodes won’t disappoint and will have us all locked in for the ride.
@Xclusion has dropped something properly different this time, a full blown DayZ bank heist that feels like a fever dream cooked up in a Discord call at three in the morning.
He and his teammates decide to go all in on the idea, pushing through tense planning, messy shootouts and those moments where you realise the whole thing could collapse in seconds. The editing is crisp in a way most creators would kill for, giving every scene that sharp, cinematic punch without losing the raw DayZ energy underneath.
It’s unique, chaotic and strangely believable, the kind of experiment that reminds you how creative this community can get when someone decides to send it.
@Superftlol has gone full SAS mode in his latest video, surviving an outrageous 53 hours as a ghillie and smashing his own personal record. It’s wild watching someone who’s been streaming DayZ for so many years still push the game to its limits like this, sneaking through forests, stalking players and living off scraps with that trademark patience only true OGs have.
The run feels tense from start to finish, the kind of long haul survival most of us talk about attempting then immediately abandon once hunger hits. His content has stayed consistently strong through every patch and meta shift, and this new milestone just proves he’s still one of the long standing legends of the community.
Here's a collection of some of our favourite screen shots from the community and some from DayZ!
That just about wraps us up for this article. Thank you to everyone who has created something to expand the enjoyment of this game.
