You might have noticed a couple of fresh faces running the joint today. Dave and I are officially taking over the Community Spotlight duties for the foreseeable future, but don’t panic, the regular crew hasn’t vanished into the Chernarussian wilderness.
Instead, the development team are currently heads-down, locked in and working tirelessly on the upcoming Dev Blogs for Badlands. With the expansion generating so much anticipation, the devs are focusing all their bandwidth on curating the ultimate deep dives into what's coming next.
Because we didn't want the community's incredible achievements to fall through the cracks while they are away, we've stepped up to make sure your videos, mods, and milestones get the love they deserve.
ICYMI - Read the latest dev blog here: https://dayz.com/article/Dev-blogs...
So, while the devs break a sweat over the future of survival, let's dive into the absolute best of what you lot have been up to this month!
Each month we want to celebrate the hard work this community puts in to keep DayZ feeling fresh and new 13 years on! Below are some of our favourites from the last month.
If you want a masterclass in reading between the lines, look no further than WOBO's latest video. He has done a brilliant deep dive into the second dev blog for the upcoming Nasdara map and it sounds like we are all in for a rough time.
The analysis covers some brutal new survival mechanics, including a reworked hydration system where direct sunlight actively cooks your character and drains your water. @WOBO breaks down the sheer panic of managing four different gear sets just to survive scorching days, freezing nights and potential sandstorms. With water being incredibly scarce, Nasdara is shaping up to be the most punishing map yet. Check out the video to start planning your survival strategy now.
We know DayZ covered this last month, but the updates just keep on coming! Just when you think you have seen every possible iteration of a DayZ map, the modding community decides that Earth is too small. The legendary @Battlesquatch recently dropped some fresh screenshots of his latest project and it is quite literally out of this world.
The concept of bringing zero-gravity vibes and space exploration to a "zombie" survival game is wonderfully absurd, but the previews look brilliant. The terrain is hauntingly beautiful with craters and futuristic outposts. It is creative madness at its finest, so go check out the screenshots and show him some love.
We have some absolutely stellar news to celebrate. The wonderful @Nitno has officially achieved Twitch Partner status, hitting a milestone that has been a personal dream for years.
Nitno was quick to thank the entire community, the DayZ creators and the dedicated Nitno Crew for making it all possible, but we all know just how much hard work went into earning that shiny new badge.
It is a massive accomplishment and a testament to the incredible content being produced within our scene. We are thrilled to see that dedication rewarded.
Huge congratulations from Dave, myself and the whole community, mate.
Go drop by the channel and show some love!
When @JLK drops a video, you know you are not just getting a standard gameplay clip. You are getting a full blown cinematic production. In part one of his latest epic, he teams up with @Playguy and @Goldn_Rex to attempt the impossible: building a permanent cliffside fortress near Mishkino on a heavily contested server.
The trio is constantly up against it, dodging geared up local clans, hunting endlessly for those elusive nails and getting stuck into some seriously heavy PvP. It is chaos, but they somehow manage to hold their own and secure a foundation. Honestly, it's gripping stuff and we are already buzzing to see what happens in part two!
For the server owners and aspiring modders among us, @Scalespeeder Gaming is back with another invaluable guide to make your life a whole lot easier. This time, he is breaking down how to use a modular XML system to ensure weapons spawn fully decked out with magazines, scopes and suppressors.
The brilliant thing about this method is that it uses separate code snippets rather than hacking away at the massive vanilla files. This makes your custom loot settings update-independent, meaning future game patches are far less likely to break your hard work.
Thanks Scalespeeder o7
@Asmondian is an absolute legend in the community spotlight, constantly treating us to incredible weapon reskins and DayZ Infographics!
According to a recent teaser, if everything goes smoothly, a new clothing mod could be dropping as early as this week. The sneak peek looks fantastic, offering exactly the kind of gritty, authentic survival gear we love to see.
Keep your eyes peeled on the workshop because your survivor is about to get a serious wardrobe upgrade.
Whether you are fresh off the coast or have thousands of hours on your clock, there is always something new to learn in DayZ. The brilliant @CamCANTRUN has dropped a comprehensive guide packed with veteran insights that most players completely overlook.
He covers everything from utilizing multivitamins for a temporary immunity buff to reading the 300 metre zombie spawn bubble to spot enemy players. There are also some fantastic tips on avoiding cheaters, hiding wilderness stashes instead of building obvious bases and saving precious time with fire crafting.
It is a masterclass in situational awareness over raw aim. Give it a watch if you want to seriously refine your tactical approach and stop dying to the elements.
If you are looking for quick bursts of pure DayZ madness, our community shorts have absolutely delivered this month.
First up, SourSweet went absolutely ham. Mid conversation, he casually wipes out a trio of players without missing a single beat or dropping his tone, before immediately returning to his chat like nothing even happened. The composure is terrifying. Meanwhile, over on DayZ Underground, Skeezertron broke into song and somehow initiated a full blown mosh pit in the middle of the apocalypse. Finally, Gekofish managed to get a brand new follower executed. Look, he did not actually pull the trigger himself, but we are absolutely putting the blame on him anyway.
First up, @SourSweet went absolutely ham on his second channel. Mid conversation, he casually wipes out a trio of players without missing a single beat before immediately returning to his chat like nothing even happened.
The composure is terrifying.
Meanwhile, over on DayZ Underground, @Skeezertron broke into song and somehow initiated a full blown mosh pit in the middle of the apocalypse.
We've seen very few stranger thing in Chernarus. Well done sir.
Finally, @Gekofish managed to get a brand new follower executed. Look, he did not actually pull the trigger himself, but we are absolutely putting the blame on him anyway.
This Month, we hand the gauntlet over to @Kolbyster from Ep.181 of Friendly?: A DayZ Podcast.
It is a heart-pounding rescue mission on Namalsk where the Kolbyster braves illness to save a teammate pinned down in a shed. They engage a hostile clan in a chaotic cabin firefight, completely wiping them out against all odds.
We had to stop and stare at this one because it easily takes the crown for the best thumbnail we have seen all month.
The content inside from @TopREC is just as spectacular, tracking a group who made the utterly unhinged decision to build a base right in the middle of Zelenogorsk.
Accompanied by eagle-eyed @Lottie, this naturally turns their entire wipe into a non-stop warzone. They find themselves locked in a chaotic rivalry with a pantless squad from Stary Sobor, which surprisingly blossoms into an unlikely alliance.
The video captures the ultimate DayZ loop: getting raided, losing everything, spawning back on the coast and immediately fighting to reclaim their turf. It is a fantastic watch that perfectly encapsulates the brutal, brilliant chaos of hot zone living.
If you are into highly modded base building stories, then look no further. This wild adventure follows @Zodec and his teammates, Vekst and Bell, as they pull off a massive wipe day sprint to claim the ultimate prize: the secret underground bunker beneath Green Mountain.
The boys get stuck into some heavy PvP to secure high tier weapons before turning the bunker into an absolute fortress. We are talking hidden loot rooms, grow tents and even a fully functional Bitcoin mining setup. They even fly a helicopter to a high loot offshore facility unlocked via a Pokémon card quest. It culminates in an epic final base defense that you absolutely have to see.
There is nothing quite like witnessing the sheer panic of someone experiencing DayZ for the very first time. A personal favourite, @Beanz took on the ultimate challenge of mentoring a brand-new player named Raz on a packed Official server, and the results are brilliant.
Raz gets a proper baptism of fire, dealing with everything from Kamishovo freshie ambushes to navigation nightmares and even a terrifying encounter with a wild bear. Beanz patiently guides him through combat tactics with a Blaze, server disconnects and a an 'only in DayZ' moment involving handcuffs...
It is a fantastic watch that perfectly captures the beautiful, brutal learning curve of our favourite game.
Move over iZurvive, there is a brilliant new tool in town. A video from @OpticsDayZ introduces us to opticsdayz.com, a completely ad-free map viewer that is set to make your in-game navigation smoother than ever.
Right now, it fully supports Cherno, Livonia and Sakhal, offering a highly detailed 3D aerial view with incredible zoom clarity so you can pinpoint specific buildings or treelines. It also features clever loot filters to show spawn probabilities, a specialized 300-metre zombie radius tool to check your player spawn bubble, and a handy GPS coordinate search. It's absolutely worth bookmarking for your next run.
From solo's to squads. From rallies to prison breaks. You won't find a more interesting spread of events!
You can find out about all upcoming events using @iRoadie's super helpful DayZ Event Calendar!
DayZ community events continue to create unforgettable stories - and May was no exception, let's have a look on one of the highlights
This month, @HollyRex celebrated both her birthday and her 4-year Twitch Partner anniversary with the entertaining Partners in Crime event on Deer Isle.
Players signed up as duos or were paired with fellow solo survivors before taking on one objective: escape Alcatraz.
The event combined intense PvP, optional roleplay, and plenty of community interaction, creating a unique experience for participants and viewers alike.
After a series of dramatic encounters and desperate escape attempts, Almyy emerged as the last surviving prisoner within the time limit and secured the victory. Congratulations!
Looking ahead, June promises another major community spectacle with the DayZ World Cup, hosted by Survival of the Streamers.
Inspired by the real-world tournament, teams will represent their countries in a multi-round PvP competition across PNW. Five unique battlefields, strategic flag objectives, unlimited respawns, and plenty of action will test teamwork, adaptability, and national pride.
With points awarded for controlling and defending flags, every round could make the difference between victory and defeat.
Who will lead their nation to glory? We can't wait to find out.
Here's a collection of some of our favourite screen shots from the community and some from DayZ!
That just about wraps us up for this article. Thank you to every one who has created something to expand the enjoyment of this game.
